Majher Char Community Platform
Technology designed to connect people, information and community.
COS-BD presents itself as a digital community intelligence platform for government, NGOs, researchers, development partners and citizens. Instead of scattered registers and one-off surveys, the platform brings a community's data, services and decisions together in a single place — starting from Majher Char, a coastal char community.

Technology becomes meaningful when it solves real problems.
I have spent my working life between media, community radio and technology — and in all three the same thing kept repeating: the information a community needs already exists, but it is scattered across notebooks, offices and individual memories.
COS-BD started as an answer to that. Not because a new platform was technically possible, but because a community deserves one place where its own information lives, can be updated and can be used to make decisions.
Technology should not exist simply because technology is available. It should help people communicate, access information and participate in a connected digital environment.
- 01
The need
A char community's information — households, health, education, land, disaster preparedness — sits in separate registers held by separate organisations. Nobody, including the community itself, sees the whole picture, so planning stays guesswork and the same survey gets repeated again and again.
- 02
The approach
Treat the community itself as the system of record. One shared community database, described on the site as an operating system for the community, that every module reads from — designed to work offline-first for field use and to stay understandable for the people entering the data.
- 03
The platform
COS-BD turns that idea into a usable product: a public overview, a live dashboard, mapped community assets, module-by-module registries and role-based access for government, NGO, research and citizen users. The platform is live at cosbd.online.
Inside the Platform
COS-BD publishes a wide module set built on one shared community database. These are the capability groups shown on the platform itself.
Citizen 360 & Family Registry
A complete digital profile and identity for a person, with household census and QR-based family IDs.
GIS & Digital Twin
A live digital twin of the community — households, roads, schools, shelters, farmland and water bodies on an interactive map.
Community Survey
A no-code form builder with offline survey capture for enumerators working in the field.
Disaster & Coastal Emergency
Cyclone, flood and river-erosion preparedness with shelters, emergency boats, volunteers and relief coordination.
Health & Education Modules
Maternal health, immunisation and medicine tracking alongside admission, scholarship and dropout monitoring.
Analytics & Research
Dashboards, heatmaps and SDG indicators, plus anonymised data export for researchers.

Designed for the modern web.
The platform is presented as a responsive digital experience designed to remain accessible across different screen sizes — the same content adapts from a desktop dashboard to a single-column mobile view.

Behind the experience
A modern web platform focused on usability, accessibility and maintainability. What can be verified from the live build is that COS-BD ships as a modern bundled single-page web application served over HTTPS; beyond that, the internal stack is not published, so it is not listed here.

From idea to digital platform
My involvement is on the concept and technology side: framing the problem, shaping what the platform should be, and directing how it is designed, built and put online. It is the same thread that runs through my media, community radio and cyber security work — understanding a community first, then choosing the technology.

Built with trust in mind
A community platform holds sensitive information, so restraint matters more than claims.
- A secure development mindset from the first design decision, not a review at the end.
- Data protection awareness: collect what serves the community, and no more.
- Responsible handling of personal and household information, with access matched to role.
- Maintainable architecture so the platform can be corrected and audited over time.
- Performance and accessibility treated as part of security — an unusable system is an unsafe one.
No claim of perfect security is made here. Specific security implementations are only described once they can be verified.
